How is made-to-measure furniture priced?
Why can two cabinets that look alike have different prices? Custom manufacturing includes more than external dimensions. Interior layout, door mechanisms, surface finish, fittings and installation conditions all affect the scope. Ask for these elements to be specified when comparing quotations.

1. Dimensions are more than width and height
Width, height and depth influence material quantities, but wall irregularities, ceiling height, recesses and service routes also change the design. A site measurement helps reduce uncertainty before production.
Door swing, clearance in front of drawers and the route for carrying components into the room belong in the brief. A large unit may need to be manufactured as modules assembled on site.
2. Specify materials and finishes separately
The carcass, visible doors and edge details are different components. Lacquer, acrylic, membrane and wood-look finishes vary in appearance, maintenance and cost.
Instead of a vague material grade, a useful quotation names the selected board, thickness, surface treatment and where each finish will be visible.
3. Hardware changes the experience
Hinges, drawer runners, handles, dividers, lighting and lift mechanisms influence how the furniture works. In a drawer-heavy unit, fittings can be a substantial cost item.
Tell the manufacturer how frequently doors and drawers will be used, so the specification suits the application.
4. Clarify installation and refurbishment
Removal of old units, wall preparation, electrical work, carrying access, floor level and final adjustment differ from project to project. Written inclusions and exclusions make quotations easier to compare.
If part of the existing furniture will remain, define the boundary between new manufacturing and refurbishment in the drawings or written scope.
